The digital advertising market has seen a substantial amount of growth over the last ten years. In 2017, more than 45 billion dollars were spent on mobile ads in the United States alone, and that figure is projected to reach 70 billion dollars in 2018. Technology companies that are able to provide new solutions for advertisers to increase their ROI stand to capture a substantial portion of that market.
Investing in the digital advertising industry may have proven more lucrative during periods of economic uncertainty and even decline than traditional stock markets. For example, when the US stock market fell during the Great Recession, it did not recover to its previous level for 4 years. However, spending in the digital advertising market continued to grow.
